Celebrate International Women’s Day in Medway

Published: Friday, 7th March 2025

Who will you take inspiration from this International Women’s Day?

It could be someone from your own family, a friend, or one of the many Medway women to make their mark on history, from groundbreaking artists like Tirzah Garwood to defence-breaking rugby centres like Rachael Burford.

International Women’s Day is tomorrow, Saturday 8 March, and is held every year to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, while also marking a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

In recognition of the day, Medway Sport is hosting special This Girl Can Lift Premier Masterclass sessions, with limited space still available on Sunday, 9 March at Cozenton Park Sports Centre at 11am and at Strood Sports Centre, at 12noon.

Our gyms are inclusive and welcoming, so come and join our gym experts for tips and advice on how to lift weights effectively and safely.

Tonight Child-Friendly Medway will also be celebrating International Women’s Day at their Girls Just Wanna Have Fun event at the Rochester Corn Exchange. This free event is for Women and Girls and is part of Medway Safer Streets 5 programme supporting Kent Police’s Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) agenda.
