A special event is being held at St John’s Church in Chatham, to mark a year since Kent and Medway welcomed the Baton of Hope.
Bringing Back Hope will see baton-bearers, mental wellbeing providers, and members of the local community come together on Wednesday, 30 September, to celebrate the hope, strength, and resilience within our communities, and reflect on the impact of the suicide prevention initiative – which saw the Baton of Hope carried through the streets of Kent and Medway last year.
Whether you attended last year’s event, have been affected by suicide, or want to show your support, you’re welcome to book your place.
Cllr Teresa Murray, Deputy Leader of Medway Council and Portfolio Holder for Public Health, said: “Welcoming the Baton of Hope to Medway was a special moment which had a resounding impact on many people, and I’m looking forward to meeting as many of them as possible on what will be another special occasion. Coming together like this is so important, as a chance to connect, build communities, and send a message of hope and solidarity to all those affected by suicide and mental health issues.”
The free event starts at 4pm and includes live music and performances, community art, a film screening, optional group walk with the Baton of Hope, nibbles and networking.
Although tickets are free, they must be booked in advance at Eventbrite.co.uk
