Today (Thursday, 25 September) the government announced the new Pride in Place Impact Fund.
Medway is set to receive £1.5million from the new fund. Reacting to the news, Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome the government’s announcement of the Pride in Place Impact Fund, and the funding that is coming to Medway. Our high streets and shared community spaces play a vital role in the lives of our residents, and this much needed funding will help to continue to build on the fantastic work we already have underway in Medway.”
Cllr Harinder Mahil, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic and Social Regeneration and Inward Investment, added: “We have already been working closely with community groups across Medway to identify how we can revitalise our public spaces, including projects across Chatham, Gillingham, Hoo and Rainham, and of course through our successful UK Shared Prosperity Fund programme and strong relationships with our Town Centre Forums. This funding is a welcome boost to these joint efforts to shape Medway’s future.
“We look forward to continued collaboration to agree the projects which will receive this funding, and deliver improvements that reflect their priorities and aspirations, and our joint ambitions for Medway.”
