Medway Matters Live returns this October offering residents the chance to find out the latest news and put their questions directly to the council’s leaders.

Taking place at MidKent College’s Gillingham campus on Wednesday, 8 October from 6pm to 8.45pm, the event will provide a chance for residents to hear directly from Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, and Richard Hicks, Chief Executive.

From 6pm to 7pm, residents will have the opportunity to browse stalls from a number of council services and learn about what they do and the support and help on offer.

At 7pm, fellow Medway resident and former BBC South-East journalist Rob Smith will formally open proceedings. Both Vince and Richard will update the audience on the latest developments in the council, including an update on local government reorganisation and devolution and what they mean for Medway.

We will then head into the live Q&A session, moderated by Rob, where residents will have their chance to put their questions directly to the council’s leaders.

Speak directly with residents

Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, said: “This is now our fourth Medway Matters Live event, and they have been a really great way for us to speak directly with residents and hear their thoughts. Important topics regularly get raised at these events, and it is always great to see the passion our residents have for Medway.

“As many of you will know there are big changes on the horizon with local government reorganisation and devolution. These are changes which will impact all of us, and we will be speaking about what they mean for Medway at October’s event. If you want to know the very latest developments, or have any questions, make sure you book your free ticket today and join us at MidKent College.”

Vision for Medway

Richard Hicks, Chief Executive of Medway Council, said: “Both Vince and I are really looking forward to what is sure to be another great Medway Matters Live.

“Ensuring our residents have the chance to engage with us about what is happening in Medway is so important to us, whether that is hearing about our vision for Medway or updates on recent developments, asking us questions or expressing a view. Medway Matters Live also provides a great opportunity to find out more about the council’s services, what we do and the wealth of support that is available. We hope to see as many of you as possible join us in October for the next edition of Medway Matters Live!”
