The much-loved Medway Mile is returning next month for residents of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
Registration for the Medway Mile, which will take place around Rochester on Friday, 10 September, from 5pm until 8pm, is now open. Everyone who would like to run, walk or jog, the Medway Mile is required to register.
There will be a number of activities on off at Rochester Castle including a children’s race, competitive adult race, taster fitness classes, inflatables and other family-friendly activities.
Medway Council’s Medway Sport team has mapped out mile-long routes across Medway to help participants prepare for the mile and to encourage residents to keep active. Find your nearest Park Mile.
Extra safety measures will be in place this year, including hand sanitisation stations. Face coverings are optional at the event, but residents are reminded to respect others who feel comfortable wearing them.
Welcoming residents of all ages to the Medway Mile
Cllr Howard Doe, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: “I am pleased the Medway Mile is returning to Rochester once again this year. At the last event we announced Medway’s ambition to bid for UK City of Culture 2025 and now Medway is part of a record number of areas which are bidding for the title. Medway’s bid celebrates our communities and will create a legacy of opportunities for Medway’s young people. We are looking forward to welcoming residents of all ages to the Medway Mile, which includes a separate children’s race. There will also be fun activities for all the family to enjoy in Rochester Castle gardens during the popular event. The Medway Mile supports Medway’s Child-Friendly City agenda, putting children and young people at the heart of everything we do. Medway has a range of fantastic sporting facilities, and I would encourage residents to find out more by visiting medway.gov.uk/sport.”
