Children get their Medway Test results

Published: Wednesday, 15th October 2025

Children and families across Medway will receive their Medway Test results today, Wednesday, 15 October.

This year 3,984 children took the test including 2,118 Medway pupils.

The minimum score required to be assessed as suitable for admission to a Medway grammar school was 481, last year it was 482. The minimum score is determined by 25 per cent of the total Medway cohort. This year, 956 Medway pupils were assessed as eligible for a grammar school place, compared to 936 last year.

Cllr Tracy Coombs, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Education, said: “I know it can be a stressful time for children, and their parents and carers, but I would like to say a huge congratulations to everyone who took the Medway Test this year. Starting secondary school is a big step in every child’s development, and we have a great range of schools here in Medway to help support all children reach their full potential.”

The deadline for secondary school applications is midnight on Friday, 31 October and Medway children and their families are encouraged to use all six preferences. You can find out more information by visiting: Medway.gov.uk/Admissions.

Parents and carers of children who were not assessed as eligible for a grammar school place can still name both grammar and non-grammar schools on their application form. Whilst a grammar school place will not be offered on national offer day (Monday, 2 March 2026), parents and carers will have the right of appeal for any school they apply for that cannot offer a place, including grammar schools.

You can find out more information about appeals on our website.
